Privacy notice
Information gathered
Personally identifying information is only gathered if you:
- Send me an email with personal information (e.g. your email address), either directly or through my web based mail form.
- Contact me by telephone, instant message, SMS/MMS message, or some other method where information is disclosed which might allow me to return the communication (such as a phone number, instant message userid, etc.)
- Order photography from my website, where your information may be made available to me as part of the sale process.
Online photography sales
Photography sales are handled through Photoshelter.com, unless you contact me directly as part of the sale.
Photoshelter.com maintains their own privacy policy, which covers use of information which they may collect in order to complete a sale on my behalf. Additionally, Photoshelter maintains their own contract when delivering rights-managed photographic sales on my behalf, which covers delivery of electronic media as well as print sales; that policy may be found at: http://www.photoshelter.com/support/license.
Limited use
Personal information is retained in strictest confidence. Information collected will never be sold, rented, or shared with third parties unless necessary to complete a transaction (such as completing the sale and delivery of a purchased photograph). When a photograph is purchased and delivered solely through Photoshelter.com, their Privacy Policy will also apply if they complete the transaction.
Records retention
Email or other information sent to me as personal communication is retained in my records permanently as confidential correspondence, and is not shared with anyone else, ever, without explicit permission from the original sender. If you'd like to send me something you'd prefer is not archived or retained, just make note of it in your communication (i.e. "please delete when done"). Note that because files are backed up on a regular basis, and some of those archives are on a "permanent" storage media such as DVDs, it becomes much more difficult to remove items after time has passed. So although reasonable efforts may be used to remove information from my archives, it may not be logistically or technically possible over time. When in doubt, if you have something very confidential, please call instead of sending written communication.
Cookies
A "cookie" is a small file which allows for a personalized web browsing experience. Cookies are used to enhance the ability of this website to make things easier for you. No personal information is stored in a cookie. You may access this site without accepting or enabling cookies, although functionality may be degraded.
IP address
Your IP (Internet Protocol) address generally identifies your path for accessing the Internet. Your IP address may be owned by your Internet Service Provider (such as a telephone or cable company), a corporate network, university, or public access point (such as a WiFi network). IP addresses are retained in logs for diagnostic purposes and to ensure this system is functioning correctly. No personal information is available as part of an IP address, although IP addresses may reflect a particular geographic region (such as a city).
Analytics
Analytic software is used which gathers aggregated usage information on visits to this website, such as dates of visits, web pages viewed, and length of time on the site. No personal information is available in any of the analytic statistics.
European customers
European law may offer you additional protections, such as the ability to visit a website without the need to accept cookies. This site has been developed to be as accessible as possible without the requirement for cookies, and none should be needed.
